About this lure
Designed for shallow coastal waters, the Jackson Athlete 12SSP is a 120mm sinking pencil tailored for flathead and flounder fishing from the beach or estuary edge.
With its rear-weighted body, the 12SSP casts exceptionally well—even in wind—and drops quickly to the bottom without tumbling. The lure swims just above the sand, avoiding snags while staying in the strike zone. Its smooth rolling action is easily felt through the rod tip and transitions to a wobble-roll on faster retrieves. Fitted with three trebles, it's ready to convert short strikes into solid hook-ups.

How to work it
Cast the Athlete 12SSP into shallow coastal waters and estuary edges, letting it sink quickly to the bottom.
Work it with a steady, moderate retrieve to maintain that smooth rolling action just above the sand-you'll feel the lure's movement clearly through the rod tip. On faster retrieves, it transitions to a wobble-roll that triggers strikes from flathead and flounder.
The rear-weighted design casts exceptionally well even in wind, and the three trebles are sized to convert short strikes into solid hook-ups. Fish it tight to the bottom in sandy shallows where these predators hunt.
