How to work it
The Micro Weasel is a sinking micro jig built for the mid water column, roughly 2-10m. Its slim, near-symmetrical body drops fast then flutters tightly on the fall, so let it sink on a controlled line and stay ready - much of the interest comes as it descends. Work it with short rod twitches to trigger the darting response that mimics an injured baitfish, then pause to let it flutter again.
You can fish it two ways: yo-yo it vertically over structure and reefs, lifting and dropping through the strike zone, or cast and retrieve with an erratic hop-and-drop cadence. The twin assist rig with hand-whipped cord and sharp hooks helps convert the takes that come on the drop.
Pair it with a light jigging or slow-pitch rod and matched reel loaded with braid and a fluorocarbon leader. Target species include snapper, kahawai, trevally, gurnard and blue cod.
