About this lure

Designed for serious land-based anglers, the Palms Slow Blatt Cast Long delivers unmatched glide and response in the shore slow jigging game. With its elongated profile and ultra-light Z Light Metal body, this jig translates every lift of the rod tip into a long, controlled slide—holding perfectly in the strike zone and provoking strikes from even the most cautious fish.

It’s a perfect match for New Zealand’s diverse coastal species. The long, fluttering fall mimics wounded baitfish like pilchards or anchovies, making it deadly on fast predators like kahawai and kingfish, while the pause and slow sink draw in more calculated hunters like snapper, trevally, john dory, and gurnard.

Whether you're fishing rocky ledges, estuary mouths, or shallow reefs, the Slow Blatt Cast Long gives you two clear chances to trigger a bite—on the lift and the fall. Pre-rigged with a Decoy twin pike assist hook at the head and a Decoy single short pike at the tail, it’s ready to go straight from the tackle box.

How to work it

The Slow Blatt Cast Long is a shore-based sinking slow jig built for reaching the bottom in 30m-plus water. Cast it long from rocky ledges, estuary mouths, or shallow reefs, let it flutter down on a controlled fall, then work it back with measured lifts of the rod tip. The elongated Z Light Metal body translates each lift into a long glide, holding in the strike zone before the slow, fluttering sink.

Work the bite windows on both the lift and the fall-the wounded-baitfish action mimics pilchards and anchovies. Fast, aggressive lifts provoke kahawai and kingfish, while longer pauses and a slow sink draw more cautious snapper, trevally, john dory, and gurnard.

It comes pre-rigged with a Decoy twin pike assist hook at the head and a Decoy single short pike at the tail, so it's ready straight from the box. Match jig weight to depth and current, and lighter models to shallower reefs.
