Care and setup habits for a Daiwa in NZ salt.
After every trip
A gentle freshwater rinse after every saltwater trip, Magsealed or not.
Tighten to wash
Tighten the drag before rinsing to keep water out of the drag washers.
Loosen to store
Back the drag right off once dry so the washers do not compress.
Match the line
Shallow S spools suit thin PE for softbaiting; the SW sizes hold PE3 to PE5 for kingfish.
Protect light lines
ATD Type-L starts smooth, which saves thin PE and light leaders on the strike.
Surf: free spool to drag
On the Longbeam and Power Surf, Quick Drag locks up from free spool for straylining.
