Evergreen - Edge Breaker 3.6"

In addition to its basic performance as a claw worm, it is also fully compatible with the free rig that has become more and more popular in recent years. Not only does it induce a bite when the arms collapse after the fall, but the undulating action of the flattened arms when lifting and falling induces a reaction bite where the fish swallows it whole. On the other hand, if you set the hook from the opposite side, it quickly turns into a backslide worm for slow, feeding fishing, which is the opposite of a reaction. The long-hanging, cutting backslide and spontaneous action of the flat arm will capture nervous suspended bass.

How to work it

The Edge Breaker 3.6" is a claw worm that works well on a free rig, where the fall does much of the work. Let it sink on a slack line and watch for bites as the arms collapse during the descent, then lift and drop to bring the flattened arms to life with an undulating action that triggers reaction strikes.

Vary your cadence between a slow, feeding presentation and sharper lift-drops to read what the fish want on the day. Suited to trout and flounder.

Rig it conventionally for that reaction bite, or set the hook from the opposite side to convert it into a backslide worm. Rigged this way it hangs long, glides on the drop and produces a slow, subtle action suited to feeding fish and cautious, suspended targets.

Work it on light spinning tackle so you can feel the subtle arm movement and stay in contact through the fall.
