About this lure

The Daiwa Saltiga Frother is a heavy-duty diving popper engineered for extreme New Zealand topwater scenarios. Built with robust wire-through construction and heavily weighted for serious casting distance, it's deadly off the rocks or chasing offshore bust-ups. The 170 covers everyday kingfish and tuna work; the 200 steps up for XOS pelagics and rougher conditions. Daiwa's Laser Impact finish emits lifelike multi-directional flashes to trigger aggressive strikes.

How to work it

The Frother Popper is a surface lure best worked with sharp, deliberate pops followed by brief pauses to build a dense bubble trail.

Cast it uptide or across current and work it with rhythmic sweeps of the rod tip - alternate between aggressive pops (to trigger strikes) and slower stickbait-style twitches (to mimic a wounded baitfish). The lure's vertical floating posture means it's ready to respond instantly on the first sweep, making it ideal for reactive topwater fishing around structure or during offshore bust-ups.
