About this lure

Long-Range Performer with an Irresistible Bubble Trail

The Viper is built for long-range dominance. Featuring a double-tapered head and deep cupped face, it delivers a strong swimming action and a thick, enticing bubble trail that draws big game species in from afar. Perfectly unweighted to maintain action even when trolled far back, the Viper excels in rough water and high-speed trolling.

Target Species: Marlin, sailfish, tuna, mahi-mahi
Action: Steady swim with strong head wiggle and constant bubble trail
Rigging Options: Available rigged or unrigged

Recommended Spread Positions:

  • 6.5"Shotgun: Excels way back in the spread for spooky mahi or tuna
  • 8.5"Long Rigger: Tracks true and produces a solid smoke trail for marlin
  • 10.5"Long Corner: Bold presence in the prop wash's edge for big bites

The Viper’s unweighted design and aggressive wiggle make it a go-to for serious offshore spreads—easy to run, hard to beat.

Big Kev's Tips

How to work it

The Viper is a floating, surface-running game lure fished by trolling it in an offshore spread.

Its double-tapered head and deep cupped face produce a steady swimming action with a strong head wiggle and a thick, constant bubble trail that pulls fish in from a distance.

Being unweighted, it holds its action even when set well back, and it handles rough water and high-speed trolling.

Match the size to the spread position: the 6.5" runs well back in the shotgun for spooky mahi-mahi or tuna, the 8.5" tracks true from the long rigger and smokes for marlin, and the 10.5" brings a bold presence at the edge of the prop wash on the long corner.

Run it rigged or unrigged as your setup requires.

Deploy across outrigger and corner positions on a suitable game trolling outfit, targeting marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi.
