How to fish the Mepps - Black Fury Chartreuse
Big Kev's Tips
How to work it
Cast the Black Fury across current or along structure and retrieve steadily to keep the tight-spinning blade working in the shallow to mid-depth zone.
The sinking action means it will drop slightly during pauses, so vary your retrieve speed-faster pulls for active fish, slower rolls for cautious ones.
This spinner excels in both low-light (dawn, dusk, overcast) and bright conditions, making it a reliable all-day choice across NZ freshwater. Pair it with light to medium spinning gear and keep tension on the line to maintain blade spin and feel for takes.
