About this lure

The Vexed DHU SLOW has been one of the most popular and best catching jigs on the market since its introduction in 2010. We have been asked by a few top jigging anglers to make a longer version that can still be fished slow on PE1.5-4 Slow Pitch outfits for demersal species. We decided to weight this jig slightly rear of centre to get it down quicker and stay down in the strike zone longer than a traditional Slow Pitch Jig which are more often top of centre weighted.

The DHU SLOW comes ready to fish with one of our specifically designed durable, scented, super stretchy, high intensity UV/Glow Vexed Flashy Occy Head Assists. Add this Super Occy to our range of proven Vexed Bottom Meat colour patterns and you will be out fishing your mates with the best pre rigged slow jig on the market.

How to fish the Vexed - Dhu Slow

Big Kev's Tips

How to work it

Fish the Dhu Slow on PE 1.5-4 gear with a slow-pitch jigging action. Lift the rod 0.5-1 metre with a steady pace, then drop on a controlled slack line, letting the jig flutter and pendulum through the water column.

The rear-weighted design keeps it in the strike zone longer and descends faster than traditional slow-pitch jigs, ideal for working demersal species on bottom structure 30 m and deeper.

Work snapper and kingfish around rough ground, pinnacles, and drop-offs - pause on the drop to trigger takes.

Match your weight to depth and current: lighter weights (80-140 g) for shallower marks or slack conditions and heavier (220-500 g) for deeper water or strong tidal flow.

The included UV/Glow occy head assist adds attraction in low-light and deep conditions.

Which weight, and when

80 g Shallow demersal marks (15-20 m) or slack-water conditions; maintains slow descent on light PE.
100 g Shallow to mid-range demersal work (20-30 m); responsive to subtle jigging on PE1.5-2.
140 g Mid-range depths (25-35 m) with light to moderate current; balanced sink and lift control.
180 g Deeper marks (35-50 m) or moderate current; maintains strike-zone contact without excessive drop speed.
220 g Deep demersal ground (45-60 m) or stronger tidal flow; faster descent, extended bottom time.
270 g Heavy deep-water work (55-70 m+) or strong current; reaches and holds bottom structure.
350 g Very deep marks (70 m+) or extreme current; rapid descent, extended bottom contact.
500 g Maximum depth and current scenarios; ensures jig stays in strike zone on strong tides.
