The Vexed Bottom Meat is a true hybrid, combining the best of jigs and bait rigs to target demersals like snapper and dhu fish. Designed to send big, baited offerings to the bottom with the help of a glowing head and octopus skirt, this system is all about attraction and efficiency. Rigged with a Harbor Triple Murder Assist and hand-tied Japanese cord, it maximises hookup potential. Bait it, drop it, and hold on.

Big Kev's Tips

How to work it

The Bottom Meat is a hybrid jig/bait system built to fish the bottom in 30m or more. Bait the assist hooks with fish fillet, squid, or octopus leg, then drop the fast-sinking head straight down to the seabed. The weighted, glowing Dhu Bomb head carries big baits down quickly and holds them in the strike zone.

Once on the bottom, work it slowly - small lifts and long pauses let the glow head and octopus skirt do the attracting while the bait soaks. Keep contact with the bottom, re-dropping as you drift to stay in the zone where demersal fish hold.

Match the weight to depth and current so the rig gets down fast and stays vertical. The triple assist with circle and octopus hooks and hand-tied cord maximises hookups on demersal species like snapper and trevally.
