How to fish the Ocean Angler - Slider Rigs

Big Kev's Tips

How to work it

Drop the Slider to the bottom and work it through the mid-water column (2-10m off the seabed), where snapper, gurnard, trevally and kingfish feed. Let the shaped jig head sink on a natural fall so the skirts flutter, then lift with a slow, steady wind or gentle lift-and-drop cadence. The fluttering skirt does the work - keep movements subtle rather than aggressive.

On the take, the head slides up the line while the assist hooks stay in the fish, improving hook-up rates and reducing lost fish. Keep a light drag and let the rod load before winding steadily.

Match weight to depth and current: lighter heads for shallow, calmer water and heavier ones to hold bottom in deeper water or run. Pair with a soft-tipped slow jig rod and matched reel so the skirt can move freely, and swap replaceable skirts as needed.
