How to fish the Vexed - Dhu Drop

Big Kev's Tips

How to work it

Drop the Dhu Drop straight down over reefs and foul ground, letting its slow sinking action flutter naturally through the water column to the bottom in 30m+. Once you reach the strike zone, work it with slow pitch lifts of the rod, then let it fall on a controlled line - most bites come as the jig flutters back down, so stay in touch with the assist hook.

The pre-rigged flashy octopus assist means it's ready to fish out of the packet, ideal for holding the lure in the bite zone over structure. Match lighter models to shallower reef and heavier models to deep water and current.

Pair with a slow pitch jigging rod and reel loaded with braid to keep contact at depth and detect subtle takes. This jig is proven on snapper, hapuku, bass, kingfish, cod and groper working vertically over demersal ground. Heavier weights can be used for deep dropping.
