About this lure

The Bottom Meat Junior Hybrid takes the proven Bottom Meat concept and scales it down for harbour and inshore species. Whether you’re fishing from the boat or shore, this clever little jig doubles as a lure and a “fish-catching sinker” when rigged on the bottom of a paternoster setup.

During testing, more fish were caught on the Junior Hybrid used as the sinker than on the traditional bottom dropper hook — giving you two strike points right on the seafloor. Perfect for pannies, kahawai, gurnard, and trevally.

Each jig is tied with premium GLOW/UV fibres, a touch of flash, and rigged on sticky-sharp BKK hooks that hold up to repeated use. Just add a small strip of bait like squid or fish and you’ve got an irresistible presentation.

Available in weights from 5g through to 60g, the Bottom Meat Junior Hybrid is a go-to for anyone chasing inshore table fish around the bays, harbours, and shallow reefs.

How to work it

The Bottom Meat Junior works as both a standalone lure and as a paternoster sinker on the seafloor.

Cast or drop to the bottom in 30m+ and work it with sharp lifts and pauses, letting it settle back to the seabed - the glow and UV fibres trigger strikes on the drop.

Rig it as your bottom dropper on a paternoster trace; it will catch fish as effectively as a traditional hook, giving you two strike points on the same rig.

Target pannies, kahawai, gurnard, and trevally in harbours, bays, and shallow reefs from boat or shore. Add a small bait strip (squid or fish) to amplify attraction.
