Big Kev's Tips
How to work it
The Bottom Meat Deluxe is a hybrid jig/bait system built to fish hard on the bottom in water 30m and deeper. Rig it with a fish fillet strip, whole squid, or octopus leg across the triple hook setup, keeping longer baits straight so the whole rig descends streamlined and fast-sinking to the seabed.
Drop straight to the bottom and let the fast-sinking design take it down quickly, minimising drift in current or deep water. Once down, work it with slow lifts and pauses to let the scented Occy Head skirt and UV flash do the attracting, then hold it near the bottom where demersal fish feed.
Match the head weight to depth and current - heavier heads for deeper drops and stronger tide.
Pair with a rod and reel rated to handle the chosen weight and the leverage of a loaded bottom rig, and use the under-chin assist hook point for secure hook-ups on the take.
