About this lure

The Slow Blatt R is designed specifically for slow jigging. This model aims to balance the accurate response to the angler's input and the irregular action during the fall. When jerked, it responds by turning the body horizontally. When falling, it appeals with an irregular fall from a little closer to the tail. In the long fall method, the R-shape on the top of the body grabs the water, so it gets caught in the water even with a slow lift.

When it transitions to the fall, the sliding edge on the bottom of the body allows for quick water removal. It shows slowly and then drops quickly. This contrast is the key to attracting a bite.

How to work it

The Slow Blatt R is a slow pitch jig built to work the bottom 30m and deeper. Drop it to the seabed, then lift with a measured pitch of the rod tip: when jerked it turns horizontally, and on the fall it produces an irregular action from closer to the tail. Let it flutter on a controlled slack line before repeating.

In the long fall method, the R-shape on top grabs water so the jig holds and glides even on a slow lift, then the sliding edge underneath sheds water for a quick drop. Play on that slow-lift, fast-fall contrast to trigger bites, and stay in contact through the fall to feel the take.

Pair it with a dedicated slow pitch rod, balanced reel and assist hooks. Match the jig weight to depth and current. Target snapper, kingfish, gurnard and trevally holding on or near the bottom.
