Thumb-Optimised Frame

By analysing how anglers actually hold a reel, Daiwa re-engineered the grip around natural thumb placement rather than traditional full-hand gripping. The thumb holding frame provides a secure, comfortable rest position that improves control, reduces finger slip, and maintains comfort after clutch release.

The result is a completely new palming experience that redefines what a conventional reel grip should feel like.

Corrosion-Defence System

Anode protection reduces corrosion by using a sacrificial zinc anode that corrodes in place of critical metal components. By deliberately concentrating corrosion on the anode plate, the reel’s core structure is better protected in harsh saltwater environments.

This design helps maintain long-term durability and performance where it matters most.

T-Shaped Power Control

The 85 mm T-shaped power knob is shaped for secure, comfortable handling during both jerking and steady cranking. Its ergonomic profile offers multiple thumb placement options, providing a snug, confident grip in all conditions.

The thickened shaft improves control during single-pitch jerks, while the firm, stable grip supports controlled lifts when slow jigging. Well suited to a wide range of applications, from coastal jigging through to dedicated slow jigging.

48mm Precision Spool

The Ξ¦48mm large-diameter spool is more compact than the 15 size, while still offering substantial capacity: PE1.5-650m, PE2-450m, and PE3-300m. This size is specifically optimised for near-shore bait jigging applications.

As with the 15 size, the spool shape is carefully balanced to control changes in retrieve speed as line is released. By maintaining an optimal rate of line take-up, the design supports smooth drag performance, lighter reeling feel, and strong winding power when closing the distance on fish.
